Membership Procedures

In accordance with the TRNC Law, any real or legal person has to be registered to the CTBCA and receive annually valid class card upon the registration to the Construction Committee to be able to operate as a contractor in our country. It is a criminal offense against the law for a person or an organization to engage in any contracting activities without a Membership Certificate.

In accordance with the TRNC Law, any real or legal person has to be registered to the CTBCA and receive annually valid class card upon the registration to the Construction Committee to be able to operate as a contractor in our country. Membership Process
The membership process begins by applying to the CTBCA by filling out the application form together with the required documents, provided that the real or legal person meets the conditions stated below.

The evaluation process begins after the application file is submitted to the General Secretariat of the Association.

If any document or information to be submitted during the application is missing, the application will not be evaluated. After the missing documents are completed, the application file is registered and taken into the “membership application evaluation process”.

The application file is forwarded to the lawyer of the Association for a ‘Legal Compliance Opinion’. The lawyer makes the necessary inspections and presents the opinion report to the Board of Directors. The report and the application file are discussed within the Board of Directors, and the applicant is informed after the decision is taken.

When the applications do not meet the criteria, the necessary information and justifications are relayed to the applicant.

After the membership fee (registration fee + first year contribution) is collected from the applicant whose membership has been approved, “Certificate of Membership” is prepared and delivered.

After the completion of the membership process, the member is directed to the Construction Committee in accordance with the TRNC law in order to register and receive their class category. TRNC citizens who were resident in the TRNC within the year before the application date and have been operating in construction activities and meeting any of the following conditions as well as the organizations owned by TRNC citizens can be a member of the Association upon the decision of KTIMB Board of Directors.

  • To be registered in the Chamber of Civil Engineers and/or the Chamber of Architects,
  • Possessing a Construction Technician Diploma or an equivalent diploma and having experience of construction work under the supervision of a Contractor, Architect or Civil Engineer for at least two (2) years,
  • Possessing a diploma of Art School, Practical Art School or an equivalent foreign technical school and in addition, having experience of at least five (5) years of construction under the supervision of a Contractor, Architect or Civil Engineer after his/her education,
  • Having graduated from a high school or an equivalent secondary education institution and having experience of at least seven (7) years in construction under the supervision of an Architect or a Civil Engineer or a Contractor,
  • Being at least a primary school graduate and having minimum ten (10) years of experience as a foreman doing construction work,
  • – Being a construction contractor for at least three (3) consecutive years on the date when the law 18/1998 entered into force,

For Applications Of Legal Persons;

  • The Articles of the Company obtained from Registrar of Companies which indicates the establishment purposes as a construction contractor,
  • A newly dated Company Approval Certificate received from Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver, which includes company’s establishment, address, board of directors and shareholder approvals.
  • Copy of TRNC identity cards of the Company Director and shareholders as well as documents proving the residency in the TRNC since the previous year,
  • Copy of the diploma of the KTİMB representative of the company, if any, certificate of the chamber membership, if necessary, proof of the experience gained, Social Security Work Entry-Exit (B3) Document,
  • Board of Directors decision to authorize KTİMB representative of the company,
  • Balance sheet of the company for the last 3 years, annual turnover information,
  • Information of machine area of the company,
  • If any, documents on completion of work regarding the works completed before 1998 by the company or the person,
  • Other documents required if necessary.

For Individual Applications;

  • Copy of identity card and the residency documents showing that the applicant resided in the TRNC since the previous year,
  • Social Insurance Department Work Entry-Exit (B3) Document,
  • Copy of the diploma of the applicant and registry to the Chamber of the Architects or Engineers,
  • Other required documents if necessary.
