Gürcafer: All segments of the society should claim Kutlu Adalı

Cyprus Turkish Building Contractors Association President Cafer Gürcafer noted that the statements of Sedat Peker, who is sought for being the leader of an organized crime gang, on the assassination of Kutlu Adalı should constitute a breaking point in the country.

Stating, “If you cannot take up even the murder of an intellectual, you cannot then talk about a State, even crows would laugh at this,” said Gürcafer, saying, “This situation should turn into a popular movement, and first of all, the people should claim their values. Only in this way, politics will follow the people.” he said.

“The efficiency of politics must be increased and must also be sanitised.”

“As a civic minded citizen, since the day Kutlu Adalı was killed, I feel the same feelings both in my head and in my heart,” said Gürcafer, adding;

“I think every Turkish Cypriot should feel the same. This is an issue that we should all be sensitive about. One of our intellectuals, a journalist, took a bold step to tell us the truth, exposed someone’s theft, and was therefore killed under the fallacy of ‘treason’. Now, another individual of the dark underworld confessed to what has happened. He said that he had followed Kutlu Adalı’s wife, İlkay Adalı’s suffering, and the process she went through. ‘They sent us there to kill but we didn’t do it,’ he says. There is nothing clearer than that. All politicians, right-wingers, leftists, trade unions and non-governmental organizations, in other words all segments of the society, should claim Kutlu Adalı. We have to experience this rupture for the clean-up and purification we need. Now, the efficiency of politics in this country has to be increased and it has to be sanitised.”

Cafer Gürcafer evaluated Peker’s confessions regarding the assassination of Kutlu Adalı to the GIYNIK Newspaper.

e society, the community should gather under one roof”

CTBCA President Cafer Gürcafer stated that Peker’s statements as a confession, could lead to the community to gather under one roof, and stated that the beginning of the struggle in many countries is at a similar point, adding “There is a need for a spark.”

Expressing that it should not be forgotten that Kutlu Adalı gave his life up for the society, Cafer Gürcafer said, “When he reported any news, he would not get rich, he would merely explain the facts to the society and enlighten them. His struggle was during the times when a bullet was the death penalty. There is no need to prove the patriotism of such persons. Those whose main aim was looting and pillaging murdered a journalist. As a society, if we do not wrestle with this, we cannot go forth and talk about sovereignty or statehood,”

“Right kind of struggle is needed”

Noting that the majority is not satisfied with the situation they are in, Gürcafer stated that the right kind of struggle should be waged at this point. Saying “It is not enough to cry out something in solitude”, CTBCA President Gürcafer said “Political parties need to be cleansed within themselves” and stated, “At the same time, it is necessary to bring the economy to a structure that can stand on its own feet. If you knock on someone’s door at the end of each month and say, ‘Give me money so that I can pay salaries’, you cannot demand an investigation be initiated against anyone. There is a lot to be done, and at present, a breaking point has to occur.”

“An ‘operation clean hands’ is required”

CTBCA President Cafer Gürcafer continued his statement by demanding that an ‘Operation Clean Hands’ is required in the country and added; ‘’Everything is in the open, we know which barons appoint the cabinet, or who collected bags of dollars and developed a strategy for whom to win and lose in elections. We must get rid of these for the future of our children and fight to create a more decent country. Our future is gone, theirs should not go either.”

“Attention should be paid to those who hide behind religion, flags and human rights.”

Emphasizing that the three basic means used by people who commit irregularities are religion, flag (homeland, nation) and human rights, Gürcafer said, “Here, too, there is murder committed in connection with theft that was done by hiding behind the homeland and the nation. All three are dangerous, we must remain vigilant.’’ Gürcafer, drawing examples, concluded by stating, ‘’You see, the person who defends the world peace is a fraudster, or a man who exhausts himself to build a mosque, steals.”
